Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bukavu (Eastern Democratic republic of Congo.
As the day will have long journey from Kigali to Bukavu, your advised to book an overnight stay in kigali where you will be picked up by the company( Primate Safari Experiences) tour guide and transfer to Bukavu Congo, During the 6-7 hours’ drive you will see the hills of Rwanda can clearly drawing the conclusion why Rwanda is called the land of thousand hills, Lunch at Nyungwe forest hill top Lodge and later continue to cross the Rwanda border to Congo and dinner and overnight at Hotel Begonias. Along the drive from Kigali you will pass through spotting some primates that are along the road connecting kigali to Bukavu town .
Day 2: Eastern lowland gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National park.
As its welknown that only eastern lowland gorillas are found in democratic republic of congo , if planning for congo gorilla safari to spot the eastern lowland gorillas , then select the visit to Kahuzi Biega national park or Maiko National park for Primate Safari Experiences in Africa.

Day 3; Nature Walk & Visiting the orphanage chimpanzee
Lwiro Primate Rehabilitation Center (Centre de Rehabilitation des Primates de Lwiro) was created in 2002 by two Congolese Institutions: Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN) and Centre de Recherché en Sciences Naturelles (CRSN). Day 4: Transfer from Bukavu to Volcanoes National park
After morning breakfast (Border opens 8:00am),you will go for a short city tour of great bukavu town exploring the largest city in Eastern congo and later embark into the safari jeep and drive to cross the border and drive to volcanoes national park the home to the mountain gorillas, golden monkey in Africa, Volcanoes national park is located in the northern province of Rwanda and its ranked as the best for gorilla trekking in Africa.
You will arrive in Musanze in the evening time and if time allows visit the twin lakes or local communities. Dinner and overnight at Davinci Gorilla Lodge. The Drive from Bukavu to Musanze volcanoes national park is likely to take about 5-6 hours drive . Lunch will be en-route as your connecting from Congo to Musanze Rwanda.
Day 5: Mount Karisimbi hike Volcanoes National Parks.
Mount Karisimbi is among the an inactive Virunga Mountains on the border of Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. At 4,507 metres (14,787 ft), Karisimbi is the highest of the eight major virunga mountains, which is a part of Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Karisimbi is flanked by Mikeno to the north, Bisoke to the east and Nyiragongo to the west, on the other side of the Rift Valley. Karisimbi is the 11th highest mountain of Africa.
Karisimbi has got a pit crater called “Muntango” which is located south of the summit and over 100 cones which extend towards the shores of Lake Kivu, one of the famous lakes of Rwanda. This volcano also contains a caldera by names of Branca with lots of explosion breccias, tuffs as well as Pumices which are located near the Karisimbi Mountain.
The name Karisimbi comes from the word ‘amasimbi’ in the local language, Kinyarwanda, which means snow. Snow can mostly be found during the dry season in June, July and August on the top of the volcano and after early morning breakfast from the hotel , your guide will transfer you from the hotel to the volcanoes national park headquarters for briefying about the hiking tour .
Karisimbi hike can be done in 2 days and it’s really rewarding due to its unique experience. This hike starts early in the morning by 7:00 am and lasts between 6 to 7 hours as you navigate through Bisoke before stopping at an high altitude of about 3,700 m to have an aver night at the camp before endeavoring to finish the hike the next day.
As you hike to the top, you will enjoy many bird species, primates like the mountain gorillas and the monkeys since the volcano is located within volcanoes national park in Rwanda. This volcano is known for its super exotic plants and vegetation of dense forest and the barren volcanic cores at the top of the summit. This hike is also characterized by muddy trails especially in the rainy season, this is due to the altitude of the area.
You will have packed lunch and the guide will have sorted the dinner and accommodation at the top of the volcano since you will spend there night like the say way as its on Nyiragongo volcanic hike in Virunga National Park. The accommodation at the peak of Karisimbi is camping type and congo gorilla safaris will provide you will a clean tent and sleeping bag .
Day 6: Descend volcano
On this day, you will hike unto the summit rewarding you with great views of the created lake at the top of the volcano and sights of other volcanoes of the Virunga conservation region. Later descent the volcano and find your guide waiting for you drive to your hotel for lunch after which, in the afternoon drive to cross the border to Uganda and proceed to bwindi impenetrable forest national park located in the south western Uganda which is the home for the mountain gorillas in Uganda. You will view the great hills of Kisoro and lake Mutanda as your driving towards your accommodation for Dinner and overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Camp. Full Board
Day 7 Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi national Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a bio diverse, mountainous area in southwest Uganda. It’s home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families. In the park, rough paths weave amid dense forests, which are home to many butterflies and birds.
After a morning heavy breakfast and with packed lunch you will transfer to the park offices for briefing and then later on at 8:00 am commence the gorilla trek along the tracks in the thick forest
searching for these great apes. Depending on the movement of these humble giants the trek might take between 2-9 hours before you encounter the Gorillas. Though the walk is tiresome meeting these great apes and spending some time with them while looking deep into their expressive brown eyes, is an exhilarating and heart breaking wildlife encounter that Africa has to offer. Day 8: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kigali International Airport
Lake Bunyonyi in south-west Uganda is believed to be one of the deepest lakes in Africa, probably even the most beautiful lakes in Africa as well, dotted with numerous islands and surrounded by terraced hills, Lake Bunyonyi is a charming lake dotted with little islands in Western Uganda. The terraced landscape and vibrant colors make it almost cartoonish.
