Detailed Travel Plan 6 Days Congo gorilla trekking tour – Congo Safaris.

Day1 : Pick up from a hotel in Kigali Rwanda  and transfer to Democratic republic of congo.

The Safari guide of Primate Safari Experiences you will pick you up at 8:00 am Rwanda time and start to drive from Kigali Rwanda , the journey from Kigali takes around 6 -8 hours to arrive at Rwanda Congo border with lunch en-route  in the famous hotels in Nyungwe forest National Park . The clearing of the border will take around 3 minutes as we work in strong partnership with Kahuzi Biega National park officials & Immigration officers ( DMC). Later proceed to your accommodation in Bukavu town. Dinner and overnight Orchids Safari Lodge, Hotel Begonias or Coco Lodge.

Day2: Gorilla Trekking / Gorilla Habituation experience.

After early morning breakfast at your lodge , you will drive to the most lovely national park of Kahuzi Biega and get berifying about the Gorilla trekking rules and regulations in the lovely national park. Eastern Lowland gorillas differ from the mountain gorillas , incase you booked gorilla habituation experience you will stay with the gorillas for long hours ( 4 Hours) in the jungle than the case for Gorilla trekking ( 1 Hour). The drive from Bukavu town to Park headquarter will take you around 1 & half hour drive and you will be leaving the Hotel in Bukavu at 7;00am and you will encounter the gorillas in the wilderness with the park rangers. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge in the Park ( Kahuzi Biega National Park Safari Lodge), Incase time allows you will visit the coffee plantations and the local community.

Day3: Lwiro Chimpanzee Tracking & Transfer to Goma Town ( Virunga National Park).

After morning breakfast, you will drive to the lwiro chimpanzee sanctuary to enjoy the chimpanzee feeding and watching experience in the famous Kahuzi Biega national Park . On this activity you will take only 2 hours and drive back to the lodge for lunch or transfer straight to ihusi port where you will  find the best Speed boat a waiting for you to transfer to Goma Town where you will proceed to Virunga National Park . Dinner and overnight at Bukima Tented Camp.

Day4: Climbing Nyiragongo Mountain ( World’s Largest Lava Lake)

After Early morning breakfast, you will drive to Kabati Station where nyiragongo climbing briefying is done , registration will be done and later start to hike through the various vegetation cover . you will start with the primary forest and later proceed to the second vegetation cover and start the volcanic erruption stones.

During the first part of the hike you will pass through the volcano’s forested lower slopes, which are home to a variety of animals, including chimpanzees and numerous birds – all of which are slowly returning after previous eruptions. Then continue up to the higher reaches, devoid of vegetation, which offer a stark, beautiful landscape, before finally, ascend to the rim itself, to peer down into the world’s largest lava lake. On a clear day, the views from the summit are spectacular, with the verdant plains below extending into the distance. A night spent at the top allows for views of a very different kind. From the crater rim, look down into the heart of the volcano; watch as the fiery lava glows and boils in the darkness, a full moon adding drama to the vast plains below, reflected in Lake Kivu. This is not for the faint hearted, but the spectacular night-time show and stunning summit views justifies every step of the climb.
