Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Goma in D. R. Congo
Upon Arrival at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda you will be welcomed by the staff of Primate Safari Experiences and take a simple city tour and later transfer to Goma in DRC which is always 4-5 hours drive Cross boarder and transfer to your hotel, Dinner and Overnight stay at Mikeno lodge/Bukima Tented Camp/Lac kivu.
Day 2: Congo Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park
Depending on where you had your overnight, take an early morning breakfast and transfer to Bukima park station in Virunga National Park Congo Side for briefing about the Gorilla Tracking Rules Dos and donts with park rangers, go on a mountain gorilla trek in Congo Jungle Forest. The congo gorilla trekking takes about 3-6 hours and once found you will stay with the mountain gorillas for 1 hours taking photos and watching them playing with their young ones in their natural life. After return to the park headquarters, transfer to Kibumba Tented camp for dinner and overnight ,enjoying the view of the mikeno mountain which is part of the virunga mountains .
Day 3: Hiking Mount Nyiragongo
After morning breakfast take short drive from Kibumba tented camp to Kibati the start point for Nyiragongo climbing in virunga national park, after a briefing with park rangers, start hiking Nyiragongo volcano and hike through an impressive rain forest with various stop points along the trail,the hike takes around 5-7 hours and it always starts from 9;00am , your free to hike at your own pace, so take your time when climbing the nyiragongo to enable you reach the top summit. Have the whole evening to enjoy the view from the crate and watch the lava inside. Overnight in Cabin summit shelter at the crater.
Day 4: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano
After breakfast that is always served by 6:00am, start to descend down from Nyiragongo volcano mountain, meet our driver to Kibati station and proceed to cross the border to rwanda and continue to Kigali international airport, travelers are advised to book evening flights / if its for Goma Airport, you will need to check in at 2:00pm.
